Hi, Has anyone ever attended Nancy Thomas Parenting/Family Camps? Or her seminars. She conducts several camps in US, and Britain and even one in Saskatechewan! Her website describes what they do. And I e-mailed the Sask. contact and it sounds like a great place--and it includes programming for non-RAD kids too.
I am very tempted to sign up for this. Although getting there may prove a challenge--we have a dairy farm and August is busy with crops...but when there's a will there's a way! An alternative would be to attend a camp in Florida, or elsewhere at a different time of year--though might cost more? But I like the idea of being with other Canadians.
I'd love to hear from other's who have experienced this camp. Then I could convince my spouse that it would be very helpful. We are still slow coming to the realization that we need to handle this child even more differently than we already have.

Janet, No - we haven't been! But we know a family from England that has and they have really good things to say about it! We've spoken with Nancy a couple of times. We also wrote the organizer in Saskatchewan. Our main question was, wow - you must have a lot of RAD support in Saskatchewan to have a camp there! But learned that the camp is there because the organizer has pushed for it and made a committment to hold it! We think it would be GREAT to have one in Ontario - but one step at a time First we need more group members ;D Good for you thinking about this! Even tho we've dealt with RAD for 3 years, we are still considering going to this one. More for the purposes of meeting people - like you said! And also to have a bit of fun with appropriate care for our son if he is not wanting to join in respectfully! We have however, been to an intensive with Deborah Hage and found that truly eye-opening. So - what is changing your mind about the ways you are handling his behaviours? The best to you! H&J
